Aftercare

Taking care of a fresh tattoo is essential for proper healing, and it is your duty to ensure that it heals well. Your tattoo artist will provide guidance based on their experience, but it is up to you to follow it. If you forget the instructions, do not hesitate to contact your artist for advice. Tattoos will generally take 5-6 weeks to fully heal. If your tattoo lightens at all, we do not charge for touch ups on work that our artists have done for up to 6 months.

Here is an overview on how we recommend you take care of your tattoo:

Option 1: Second Skin

  • Your artist will apply Second Skin before you leave the studio.
  • Keep Second Skin on for 3 days.
  • Second Skin is waterproof, and you can shower and bathe with it on.
  • Excess ink and plasma may accumulate under Second Skin, which is normal.
  • At the end of the 3 days, peel off the Second Skin just before bathing and give tattoo proper wash during.

Option 2: Plastic Wrap

  • Your artist will apply a breathable plastic wrap.
  • Keep the wrap on for 2-3 hours.
  • After removing the plastic wrap, give your tattoo a proper wash with unscented soap.
  • Let your tattoo air dry after washing it.

Both Options: Tat2 Aftercare Cream

  • Apply a thin layer of Tat2 aftercare cream to the tattooed area after washing it.
  • You can find Tat2 aftercare cream in-store or on Takealot.
  • As your tattoo heals, it will scab and may flake, which is normal. Avoid scratching or picking at the tattooed area, as it can damage the healing skin.
  • Remember to apply Tat2 aftercare cream as needed to keep the skin moisturized during the healing process.
